How to Reheat Roast Meats
Hup Cheong roast meats are prepared fresh and are best enjoyed as soon as possible. If you need to store and reheat them, use the guide below to keep the meat safe while protecting its texture.
Food safety first
- Refrigerate cooked food promptly at 4°C or below if you are not eating it immediately.
- Reheat only the portion you plan to eat.
- Reheat stored cooked food thoroughly until the centre reaches at least 75°C for two minutes.
- Do not reheat cooked food more than once.
- Remove the food from its packaging unless the packaging is clearly labelled as oven-safe, air-fryer-safe or microwave-safe.
Kitchen review required before publication: Confirm storage limits, packaging instructions, appliance settings and portion-based timings for every product listed below.
Siew yok and roasted pig 烧肉与烧猪
Best method: Oven or air fryer. Dry heat helps warm the meat while restoring the crackling.
- Remove all packaging and place the meat skin-side up in a heat-safe tray or basket.
- Keep the skin uncovered and avoid adding water over the crackling.
- Heat until the centre is thoroughly hot, then rest briefly before cutting.
- Avoid overheating, which can dry the meat before the skin crisps.
Final temperature and timing: To be confirmed by the Hup Cheong kitchen for each portion size.
Char siu and honey meats 叉烧与蜜汁肉
Best method: Gentle, covered heat. This protects the glaze and helps the meat stay juicy.
- Place the meat in a microwave-safe or oven-safe dish.
- Add a small spoonful of water around the meat and cover loosely.
- Warm gently, turning the pieces halfway where practical.
- Rest for one minute, then check that the centre is thoroughly hot.
Final temperature and timing: To be confirmed by the Hup Cheong kitchen for each portion size.
Roasted duck and chicken 烧鸭与烧鸡
Best method: Gentle heat first, with a short uncovered finish if you want to refresh the skin.
- Place the meat in an oven-safe dish and cover loosely to reduce moisture loss.
- Warm until the thickest part is thoroughly hot.
- If desired, uncover briefly at the end to help the skin dry and crisp.
- Rest before serving so the heat spreads evenly.
Final temperature and timing: To be confirmed by the Hup Cheong kitchen for whole birds and portion sizes.
Braised products 卤味
Best method: Stovetop or microwave with the sauce or gravy.
- Transfer the food and sauce to a suitable pot or microwave-safe dish.
- Heat gently and stir or turn the food so it warms evenly.
- Check that the centre is thoroughly hot before serving.
Final temperature and timing: To be confirmed by the Hup Cheong kitchen for each item and portion size.
If the food has been frozen
Thaw it safely in the refrigerator, not at room temperature. Once thawed, follow the relevant method above and reheat only once.
